Seasons change, the stars shift, your opinions evolve, your mood swings, your dreams reshape — everything’s in constant motion.
So tell me, mate… why on Earth did you think things would be any different with META?
Yep, they’re always changing too. That’s just how they roll — and it’s been like that for yonks.
If you live in the digital world, you’ve probably gotten used to Uncle Zuck’s plot twists. And this year? He came in swinging, kicking the door open and dropping a bunch of updates for his second-biggest baby: Instagram.
Some changes make heaps of sense. Others… well, not so much. But he’s the boss — and if you’re smart, you roll with it (or at least try to).
So let’s unpack what’s new and how you can actually make it work in your favour.
1. Feed makeover
Now you can tidy up your feed however you like — make it look schmick and on brand. But heads up: according to Insta’s algorithm, most folks rarely visit your profile. Their attention? It’s all happening in the main feed — real time, real fast.
2. Easier access (finally!)
A bloody good update! You can now share access to your Instagram account without handing over your password. Brilliant if you’re working with a team or agency — less hassle, more security.
3. New post format: 3:4 (1080x1440px)
This new size gives you more screen real estate and really grabs attention. But here’s the catch — it doesn’t play nice with ads. If you boost a post and slap a CTA button on it (like “send message” or “sign up”), it’ll likely cover part of your image, hiding key info.
So, pro tip: stick with the 4:5 format (1080x1350px). It works well for both organic posts and sponsored ones. Less fiddling around, more consistency across the board.
Note: these changes are still in testing, so you might not see them on your account just yet. META’s still sussing out the feedback before going full throttle.
Now here’s the one thing that hasn’t changed — and probably never will:
They can shuffle layouts, tools, algorithms, formats…
But if you keep posting without a solid strategy — no relevant content, no CTAs, no hashtags that actually do something — nothing’s gonna shift. Your engagement will stay low, views won’t go up, and your inbox will remain quieter than a Sunday arvo in the outback.
So yeah, content is still king. Always has been. Create with purpose, consistency, and quality.
